Independent Educational Evaluations

IEEs that hold up

An independent educational evaluation (IEE) is an evaluation done by a qualified evaluator who doesn’t work for the school district. When parents disagree with a district’s evaluation, they can ask for an IEE at public expense. We provide full psychoeducational IEEs, in English or Spanish, with clear, defensible reports and attendance at the IEP meeting.

Common questions

Who pays for an IEE?

When a district agrees to an IEE at public expense, the district pays, within the cost criteria it uses for its own evaluations.

Can a family choose the evaluator?

Generally yes, as long as the evaluator meets the district’s criteria for qualifications and location.

Do you evaluate in Spanish?

Yes. We assess in Spanish and English and meet with families in either language.

Do you attend the IEP meeting?

Yes. We present the findings and answer questions from the team and the family.
