ERMHS / ERIC assessments

ERMHS assessments, done thoroughly

What is an ERMHS assessment?

An ERMHS (educationally related mental health services) assessment, sometimes called ERIC, looks at whether a student’s social, emotional or behavioral needs require mental health services as part of their IEP. Since 2011, California school districts have been responsible for these services. With many district mental health departments cut back, this intensive work is landing on school psychologists again. We take it on, in Spanish and English.

We serve districts in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties.

What the assessment includes

  • Record review and developmental history
  • Interviews with the student, family and school staff
  • Classroom and school observations
  • Social emotional and behavioral rating scales
  • Recommendations for IEP services and supports
  • Presentation of findings at the IEP meeting
